ASH
Ash from
our area runs approximately 70% Sapwood in 4/4 and 5/4 and 90% Sap&Btr
in 6/4 to 8/4. The heartwood tends to be light brown. We do not get the
dark heartwood that some areas have.
Grades
in Ash
Prime
- Put up 5" x 7', our 4/4 and 5/4 ash runs approximately
70% Sap&Btr while our heavier stock runs approximately 90% Sap&Btr.
Strips
- Put up 4" - 5" in width, Ash strips are very good
for Sapface and Better.
Com/Sel
- Put up 4"&wider, 6'&longer. Although unselected
for color, they contain a good percent of sapwood. Optimizing equipment
virtually eliminates end user's waste due to wane.
#2A
Common - Put up 4"&wider, 6'&longer, unselected
for color. Contains a good percent of sapwood. Optimizing equipment virtually
eliminates waste due to wane.
#3A
Common - Put up 4"&wider, 6'&longer, unselected
for color. Because we use optimizing equipment to virtually eliminate
wane, our #3A Common is a good alternative to #2A Common.
#3
Common - Put up 4"&wider, 6'&longer, unselected
for color. The lumber makes an excellent "rustic" product where
the sound defects are left in.
